Love is Always the Answer

It's been a tough year, hasn't it?
For us, it's been brutal. This past year, we lost Mei - beloved owner of our subcontracted sewing factory - to lung cancer and Silver Lucy - our fashion designer friend - to ovarian cancer. Two of our friends, Alex and Josh, tragically passed in separate drowning accidents, Alex leaving behind two little girls. Other close friends have had their homes burned to the ground by wildfires. Elderly family members under our care have suffered serious brain injury from strokes and serious bodily injury from falls. We've even had a close family member take his own life. And then there was Covid-19 on top of all of that.
But we're still here. We're still standing. And what have we learned?
Moving through grief and loss takes courage, patience and grace. But, to steal a line from Silver, "Love is always the answer." And to steal a line from Alex's memorial, "Don't forget to use your Love super-power on yourself." This Valentine's Day, maybe more than ever, we can use a reminder that Love will get us through the hard times and that the most important person to love is ourselves.
